I can’t believe that I’m only 4 weeks away from beginning my quest to run 7 marathons on 7 continents. Who would have thought this dream, formulated in my head over one year ago, would finally come to fruition. I have always believed that I could run these but not sure if my idea to turn it into a fundraising challenge would take off. Wow, what an adventure it has already become. First, with my husband Randy’s prompting, I brought my idea to John who took it an ran it past Bryan and Randy B. They took it further running it past James, Mitch and Murad. They have all become the Dream Team propelling me into another realm with a top notch website, PR, videos and oh yes, getting me acquainted with My Space, Face Book and Blogging. At 55, I think running 7 marathons is much easier.
Raising $1 Million Dollars is another lofty goal. There just has to be one million individuals out there who would donate $1 dollar to such a worthy cause. I know they’re out there. I just have to connect in all the modern ways. No longer do I have to lick & stamp one million envelopes when I can reach everyone via the internet…what a wonderful concept! So here I am trying to blog (I think this used to be called writing a letter) and reach those who can blog with their friends, who will blog with their friends…and send them to Run7on7.com to donate even $1 dollar.
Some of my family and friends have even decided to run a 5K on each day that I will be running a marathon to raise even more than their $1 dollar. What’s cool about that is you don’t even have to run, you can walk, run/walk, skip or stroll and take your Starbucks with you. I’ll be dreaming of that cup of Starbucks while I push along from aid station to aid station gulping down my Accelerade.
I’d love to hear your ideas for creative ways to join in the campaign. Write me and let me know how you’d help out to provide Scholarship Funds for those in need. Don’t forget to go to the Lace Up With Linda section and upload your positive videos..I’d love to see you on UTube!
Off for one more week of hard training….then tapering!!!
